A Body Harmony session from my brother on the sand in the sun by the surf of Spirit's Bay New Zealand, in which the first two beings I would connect with on the North American Continent first made their presence known to me, before I ever knew them..

Next One: Friday, January 9, 2009... Ryan's Singing Bowl Experience evenings are fast building momentum. This will be his 3rd Santa Cruz one, after first Marin one (second up there in February). Another in to Berkeley and one scheduled for Capitola, also in February....

Cannot describe how rich... These bowls are one-of-kind and some so old they look like they have been molded like clay pots.. and sweetest tones pulsing mingling..

First the endearing picture and box of handmade paper caught my eye. Then I was going slow enough that I stopped to give this one-of-a-kind box of chocolates my full attention. I baulked at the price.. then I read everything..

Then I 'got it'...; it was like my original Free Range egg story:

My 2 young daughters were no more than 8 and 9 years old when they asked me point-blank; why are we buying those battery chicken eggs when we know how they treat those chickens? 25 years ago, and I replied without hesitation; because Free Range eggs cost twice as much and we don't have that kind of money.  Ohhh.... my daughters responded backing off with slightly perplexed frowns on their faces..

Then, without an ounce of brute force they came back.. I will always remember how sunny and kind they were as they delivered their happy solution; so, what we do is; we eat half as many eggs..!!   (they were really pleased that they could help me to see how..).

Their solution sounds simple enough but it was actually radical because it literally enabled us to realm shift. Once we were embarked on our journey, they went on to suggest (since free range eggs were not always readily available) that when there's no free range eggs we just act like we can't see any eggs...  Everything worked! Before we knew it, free range eggs was just the price of eggs and we had made the shift.

So today I bought the Fair Trade organic chocolate box  for a gift, AND decided I would POST the item on my blog.. that way, maybe there will be 3 sales instead of 1..

The conventional cocoa/chocolate trade, like the jewelry trade, has an old paradigm colonial legacy which tends in a continuum towards less than optimal practices. Even as we benefit from the global marketplace, we are invited to trace the stories behind products so that our little and big purchases can empower far distant others even as they delight our kith & kin.
