Newborn Holly May in her nut-brown maiden Wonder Hat
So she arrived almost a month later than we expected her but Mother Ninya (daughter of Corrina) said months ago that this baby had TREE energy, she could feel it... and I guess that accounted for her s*l*o*w~ness... Then when came time to make her Wonder Hat, the little Wonder Doll that forms atop came out as the Nut-brown maiden (Holly May's Scottish great-grandfather, Corrina's father's song)..
AND HERE SHE IS!!!!
A whole month OLDER than her big sister was AT BIRTH!! Hence she barely looks newborn (after initially cherry-red post-birth minutes!)...
Ho ro my nut-brown maiden,
Hee ree my nut-brown maiden,
Ho ro ro maiden,
for she's the maid for me
Her eye so mildly beaming,
Her look so frank and free,
In waking or in dreaming,
Is evermore with me.
Bright summer comes again;
I'll fetch my nut-brown maiden
Down from the bonnie glen...
...And her name came out as 'Holly May' (two trees: Holly and Hawthorn May).....
AND MOTHER NINYA WROTE: "Wish I had a camera, we are in the town square, came in with both girls in the pram and Michael(Daddy) and Minnie are playing in the
fountains with jeans rolled up having so much fun.
I'm in that 'honeymoon' period of feeling blissed out with my new baby and lovely family, only I choose for it to be more than a passing faze...Minnie was very happy to help bath Holly this morning and then to have her sit with her for a photo."
WELCOME WELCOME, HOLLY MAY...
And the first tree in the Greenwood..
It was the Holl...leee….

Welcome, welcome

October(7th, 2008)babe
Hip hip Hooray
Tuesday October 7th: My last full night in England, such a tender, tender evening as we do our very best to ALLOW for the possibility that Corrina flies before babe delivers. We 3, mum, dad and me, go off to bed at midnight with last and double backward glances of extreme longing (whilst having surrendered to best possible outcome of course.....!!)
2.26am; Maggi Moon text to Corrina: "First shooting star. Sleeping out while u guys assist with delivery?"
2.28am; Corrina (wide awake) text back to Maggi: "Wish, Wish"
2.35am; Maggi Moon replies: "Seen about five shooting stars in last 30 mins. I wished on them that the baby be born soon gracefully. This or something better for the highest good of all concerned."

Help

Oh! How beautiful!!! October 7th is my birthday too :)
Congratulations on your beautiful girl!! I love the joy you share here and wish the very best of blessings for your family and new little one. Thank you for the photos and goodness.
Well Happy Birthday Anniversary To You!!
Yes, my daughter's birthing story was truly a Joy and it was challenging to weave all the amazing pieces of it together in a gestalt for this blog post… but can you imagine; I had changed my flight once already (that would bring me back from England to California), to accommodate this babe's 'late' arrival… and I could not change it again. And we had arrived at the point where we had ONE FULL NIGHT LEFT together in which to give birth. Then my sister wished upon a star(!!!) and ONE HOUR LATER my son-in-law put his head round my bedroom door and said “Water's just broke!” We were all of us ecstatic!!
